Over de site en mij

Ik ben Lukas Koster. Ik doe een PhD onderzoek aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, Amsterdam School of Historical Studies (ASH). Onderzoeksgebied: stadsgeschiedenis en stadsmorfologie. Het onderwerp is de herbestemming van geconfisqueerde stadskloosters in Holland tijdens de Reformatie en de Opstand 1568-1621.

Tot 2021 heb ik gewerkt in de ICT/bibliotheekdata en -technologie, vanaf 2006 bij de Bibliotheek van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Ik schreef hier regelmatig over op mijn website Commonplace.net. Overige publicaties over bibliotheektechologie en -data, alsmede nieuwere publicaties over stadsgeschiedenis/Haarlem, zijn te vinden op mijn ORCID-pagina.

Deze site lukaskoster.nl is al vrij oud (ooit begonnen als lukaskoster.net), maar ik heb hem onlangs (2024) geheel nieuw opgezet. De inhoud zal hopelijk groeien met stukjes over stadsgeschiedenis, cartografie, mijn PhD, etc. De site is overgezet van Wordpress naar een zogeheten “flat file” platform (zonder database, alleen tekst- en mediabestanden). Nu is dat Flatpress, maar het kan zomaar een andere tool worden. De teksten zijn geschreven in ofwel de door Flatpress gebruikte markup taal BBcode, ofwel Markdown (via plugins Markdown, Parsedown), of in een combinatie daarvan.

My name is Lukas Koster. I am doing a PhD at the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam School of Historical Studies (ASH). Research area: urban history and morphology. Subject: repurposing of confiscated urban convents/monasteries in Holland during the Reformation and Dutch Revolt 1568-1621.

Until 2021 I worked in ICT/library data and technology, from 2006 at the Library of the University of Amsterdam. I published about this on my website Commonplace.net. My other publications on that topic, as well as my more recent stuff on urban history can be found on my ORCID-page.

This website lukaskoster.nl has been around for a while already (started out as lukaskoster.net), but I have recently (2024) set it up from scratch. Hopefully the content will grow with posts about urban history, cartography, my PhD etc. The site was transferred from Wordpress to a flat file platform (no database, only text and media files). Currently Flatpress, but it might be something else in the future. The posts are written in either BBcode (Flatpress default), or Markdown (via plugins Markdown, Parsedown), or a combination of both (including HTML).
